Now i don't watch this T.V show but i only watch some of it for this blog assignment and because there isn't anything else i could think about to write for other shows other than America's Next Top Model about body image, but i think that's to much for my senses. What I'm writing about for my blog is about the T.V show Desperate Housewives. Its about housewives ladies in Wisteria Lane where they live in huge houses, expensive and clothes, perfect family, perfect neighborhood, and beautiful women; where their lives are confronted by different series of drama. Either its old boy friends coming back or to cheating on their husbands, the regular lives of America. The main purpose the t.v shows is trying to say is the American dream.
The shows intention is to entertain the society about everyday lives America does and turn it into wrong. For instance people who are cheating on their husbands, and America has the most divorce rate in the whole world, try to contain that secret from their spouse. But in the T.V show the writers try to leak the secret out, which cause loads of drama.
The intention is executed of the show by the actors expression on their faces and what they do to get revenge makes the intention/drama increase. Dont you want to see what will happen if the secret is out and you would tend to see the expresstion or reation to the victim?
I believe the show is protraying the American Dream towards society, not the drama portion of the show, but the things that those women have like cars, jewlery, beauty, family, great neighborhood, and huge houses. The show is saying live like the people in Wisteria Lane, have a exciting drama life or not but have all the riches and material things you would like.
Desperate Housewives portrays a great view of life, its not perfect but at least you have things to satisfy you. That message I believe is not affecting society, we do need something to hang on to dream about that drives us to live. But the only thing that makes that message bad is when you believe it so much sometimes and you fail can affect people emotion into depression.
But what i think about the T.V show is that no madder what you dream about, dont cling onto it to much or it can hit you hard if it never comes.

I agree with your post here about the desperate housewives, Abe. This show definitely does its best to instill the writers' concept of the american dream to its audience. The way the women act in their huge homes with their expensive jewelry gives women watching at home something to try and work towards, which when you think about it, is pretty frightening. I can't believe we live in a time where the typical women aspires to the status of "desperate housewife."
